AXXCON supports international trade fair company in modernising its IT

The client was faced with the challenge of transitioning, optimising and modernising the IT function. AXXCON successfully supported the client in the selection of strategic service providers and transition to the IT target operating model.

Challenge for the customer

  • The customer wants to use a programme to optimise the IT function and make it fit for the future
  • Up to now, a historically grown, numerically large and rather uncontrolled service provider landscape has prevailed
  • Parts of the IT infrastructure and application landscape are outdated or inadequate for further development
  • In addition, the customer and its support functions need to prepare more for the internationalisation of business in the trade fair industry

Requirements

  • Consolidation of the service provider landscape
  • Creation of a target operating model in cooperation with the strategic service provider(s)
  • Ensuring the control and operational capability of the future retained IT organisation
  • Development of an optimised infrastructure and application landscape
  • Establishment of “operational excellence”

Our approach

  • Definition of an IT sourcing strategy
  • Accompanying the IT due diligence
  • Selection of the future strategic IT service provider(s) (incl. tender support, contract drafting & negotiations)
  • Development of the future (retained) IT organisation
  • Planning, supporting and ensuring the transition (organisation, processes, applications, infrastructure)
  • Comprehensive project management and top management reporting through active project management and a Smart PMO

Benefits for the customer

  • Improved transparency and awareness of IT
  • Significant reduction in open incidents and process runtimes
  • Streamlined organisation for effective management of service providers
  • Optimised, strategy-compliant and topic-focused provider landscape
